Owner Narrative
The contact's client owned a 2019 Ford F-250. The contact stated that while her client was driving at approximately 51 MPH, an 18-wheeler trailer truck crossing the freeway and attempting to merge had struck the front end of the vehicle. No warning lights illuminated. In addition, the contact stated that her client attempted to decelerate while a few yards away to avoid the front-end collision; however, the emergency braking system and forward brake collision system did not activate as intended. The vehicle was deemed a total loss. All Air Bags deployed. A police report was filed. Medical was sought for a broken foot, legs, arms, and facial injuries. The vehicle was towed to a local tow yard, where it remains. The vehicle was diagnosed by the insurance provider with an emergency braking system and a forward brake collision system failure. It was also confirmed that the brake pedal was depressed before the crash; however, the vehicle failed to decelerate as intended. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 144,673.
