Data Disclaimer & DMCA Policy

Effective date: April 1, 2026. This page explains the sources and limitations of data on TruckCodex and our procedure for DMCA takedown requests.

1. Data Sources

All trucking data presented on TruckCodex is sourced from publicly available United States government databases, including but not limited to:

  • Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA): Carrier registration, safety records, inspections, violations, crashes, enforcement actions, operating authority, insurance, and SAFER/SMS data.
  • National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA): Vehicle recalls, consumer complaints, safety investigations, and manufacturer data.
  • U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA): Diesel fuel prices, energy data, and fuel tax rates.
  • Transport Canada: Canadian carrier registration and safety data where applicable.

This data is public record, made available by these agencies for public use. We aggregate, organize, and present this data to make it more accessible and useful.

2. No Government Affiliation

TruckCodex is an independent, privately operated website. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or in any way officially connected to the FMCSA, NHTSA, U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), EIA, Transport Canada, or any other federal, state, or local government agency. The use of agency names and data on this Site is for informational reference purposes only.

3. Data Accuracy Disclaimer

While we make reasonable efforts to keep data current and accurate, all data on TruckCodex is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. Please be aware of the following limitations:

  • Timeliness: Data may not reflect the most recent updates from source agencies. There is an inherent delay between when government agencies update their records and when those updates appear on TruckCodex.
  • Completeness: Not all records from source databases may be available. Some records may be incomplete or contain fields that were blank in the original source data.
  • Accuracy: Errors in source data are reproduced on this Site. We do not independently verify the accuracy of individual records. If a government agency has an error in their database, that error will appear here.
  • Interpretation: Safety scores, statistics, and calculated metrics are derived from source data using our own methodology. They may differ from official agency calculations.

Users should always verify critical information directly with the relevant government agency before making business, legal, or safety decisions based on data found on this Site.

4. Not Legal or Professional Advice

Nothing on TruckCodex constitutes legal, regulatory, safety, insurance, or professional advice. The information provided is for general reference purposes only. You should consult qualified professionals and the relevant government agencies for advice specific to your situation.
