Owner Narrative
The contact owns a 2008 Ford F-250. The contact stated while driving 30 mph, he started to smell smoke inside the vehicle, which caused him to get a headache. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact continued driving to his residence. Upon inspecting the vehicle, the contact open the hood and saw fire in the engine compartment. The contact stated the check engine warning light was illuminated after the fire was located. The contact extinguished the fire with nearby water. The contact stated he did not call the fire department or the police department to file a report. The contact stated no one was injured or sought medical attention. The vehicle was not drivable. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 276,000.
