- Physically check your air reservoir mounts during pre-trip. Grab the tank and try to move it. If there's any play — any rocking, shifting, or visible gap at the bracket — do not move the truck. FRHT and Freightliner chassis account for 702 and 369 all-time citations respectively, making them the most frequently cited makes in our database for this code. Drivers on those platforms should treat this check as non-negotiable.
- Inspect the mounting hardware, not just the tank. Corroded or cracked brackets can allow a reservoir to shift under load or vibration even if it looks secure at rest. Look at the U-bolts, straps, and welded brackets with a light and your hands.
- Check connected air lines and hoses at the same time. In our last 90 days of data, 393.45D-B (brake tubing and hoses inadequate) appeared in 38 shared inspections alongside 396.3A1-BARS, and 393.45B2-B-AIR appeared in 34. A reservoir that's moved even slightly puts tension on those connections.
