Owner Narrative

The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving approximately 35-50 MPH or above, the vehicle was shaking and jerking. The contact stated that the RPM became elevated before decreasing. The contact stated that the failure occurred while the cruise control was activated or deactivated. The ABS, the brake light, and traction control warning lights were illuminated. The contact who is a certified mechanic, diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the fuel cap, EVAP system, and the PCM had failed to respond to the catalytic converter, and the electronic response system for the traction control had failed. The vehicle was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V332000 (Electrical System, Speed Control). The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and the contact was informed that the vehicle had been previously repaired under the recall. The dealer was informed of the failure; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed, and the fault codes were not cleared. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 290,000.
