DESCRIBE BELOW IS EXACTLY WHAT HAS OCCURRED WITH MY VEHICLE. HOWEVER GM REPLACEMENT PART IS DEFECTIVE AND ISSUE IS UNDER RECALL IN CANADA???? NOT U.S.??? PART IS BEING REDESIGNED MAY BE A COUPLE OF MONTHS?? BEING TOLD WILL HAVE TO WAIT IN MEAN TIME I HAVE MANUALLY BRING HEAT UP FROM LOW AND MAY HAVE HEAT MAY HAVE TO SHUT DOWN VEHICLE AND START AT LOW. NOT VERY REASSURING WHEN TEMPS ARE -40F BELOW ZERO. UNTIL PART IS RE-DESIGNED OR ENGINEERED??? I AM SUPPOSE TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE WHICH IS LISTED UNDER A SAFETY RECALL AND ENCOUNTER CONTINUED FAILURE AND POSSIBLE ENGINE FIRE???? NOT ACCEPTABLE! HTTP://WWWAPPS.TC.GC.CA/SAF-SEC-SUR/7/VRDB-BDRV/SEARCH/RECALLDETAIL.ASPX?RN=2011074&LANG=ENG RECALL DATE 2011/02/21 NOTIFICATION TYPE SAFETY TC MANUFACTURER RECALL NUMBER 11046 UNITS AFFECTED 190,310 CATEGORY LIGHT TRUCK & VAN, SUV RECALL DETAILS ON CERTAIN VEHICLES, THE INTERFACE BETWEEN THE ELECTRICAL TERMINALS OF THE HEATING, VENTILATION, AND AIR CONDITIONING (HVAC) BLOWER RELAY RESISTOR MODULE AND THE WIRING CONNECTOR (WHICH POWERS THE MODULE) MAY BE INCAPABLE OF CONDUCTING HIGHER CURRENT LEVELS FOR SUSTAINED PERIODS OF OPERATION. IN ADDITION, MOISTURE AND OTHER CONTAMINANTS (SUCH AS ROAD DE-ICING MATERIALS) MAY ENTER THE FRESH AIR INTAKE PLENUM AND CONTACT THE INTERNAL CIRCUIT OF THE MODULE OR CORRODE THE TERMINALS. THESE CONDITIONS MAY CAUSE THE RELAY RESISTOR MODULE OR WIRING CONNECTOR TO OVERHEAT, CAUSING VARIOUS SYMPTOMS SUCH AS: THE HVAC BLOWER MAY NOT FUNCTION ON CERTAIN OR ALL BLOWER SPEED SETTINGS; A BURNING-PLASTIC SMELL OR SMOKE MAY BE PRESENT IN THE VEHICLE, OR; THE HVAC BLOWER MAY RUN CONTINUALLY WITH THE IGNITION IN THE OFF POSITION. THESE WARNING SIGNS COULD, IN CERTAIN INSTANCES, BE LEADING INDICATORS OF AN IMPENDING VEHICLE FIRE, WHICH COULD RESULT IN PROPERTY DAMAGE AND/OR PERSONAL INJURY.
