Complaint Summary

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

Owner Narrative

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1995 FORD E-350. THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE WHILE IT WAS PARKED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DRIVEN IN APPROXIMATELY TWO WEEKS BEFORE THE FIRE OCCURRED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE AND STATED THAT IT ORIGINATED UNDER THE HOOD. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY PARKED IN THE CONTACT'S DRIVEWAY. THROUGH RESEARCH, HE DISCOVERED A RECALL FOR THAT YEAR, MAKE, AND MODEL VEHICLE FOR THE SAME VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL FAILURE. HE ALSO FOUND A RECALL ON THE PARKING BRAKE CABLE WIRING TO THE FUEL LINE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT HIS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN EITHER RECALL; THEREFORE, THEY WERE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FIRE. THE RECALL NUMBERS WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 340,000.
