Owner Narrative
This complaint is a follow-up to NHTSA Complaints #11714226 and #11730299 regarding the same unresolved safety defect. Since those complaints were filed, the vehicle has now been involved in a SECOND defect-related crash. I repeatedly begged Genesis not to return this vehicle to me because I believed it was unsafe to drive. They refused to state the vehicle was safe or unsafe. No risk to them.Genesis scheduled a fourth repair attempt, took possession of the vehicle, but did not repair or even diagnose the steering and braking defects before returning it to me. Despite my repeated warnings that someone could be seriously injured or killed, I was forced to continue driving a vehicle that was unsafe. On June 24, 2026, while traveling approximately 20 mph, the vehicle suddenly veered right. The steering became unresponsive, and the brakes behaved abnormally, causing me to leave the roadway and fly into a ditch. I struck my head, and this crash closely mirrored the first defect-related crash on March 29, 2026. This occurred after four repair opportunities and after Genesis had actual knowledge of the repeated steering and braking failures. The defects remained unresolved when the vehicle was returned to me. NHTSA states that âvehicle safety is the top priorityâ and encourages consumers to report defects that create âan unreasonable risk to motor vehicle safety.â I believe this vehicle presents exactly that type of ongoing safety risk. Two crashes involving the same unresolved steering and braking defects should warrant immediate review. I am also undergoing cancer treatment and have recently developed heart palpitations. The stress of repeatedly being placed in a vehicle I warned was unsafe is unacceptable. My life, my passengersâ lives, and the safety of the public are at risk. Please associate this complaint with NHTSA Complaints #11714226 and #11730299 and investigate these recurring steering and braking failures before someone is seriously injured or killed.
