LANE DEPARTURE: BLIND SPOT DETECTION

Owner Narrative

The contact owns a 2024 Toyota RAV4. The contact stated that while driving approximately 55-60 MPH on a freeway, the blind spot monitoring system intermittently failed to detect vehicles in adjacent lanes. The contact stated that the failure nearly resulted in two crashes. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact continued driving the vehicle to the residence. The vehicle was taken to a dealer within one week for inspection; however, the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure and no repair was performed. The contact stated that the failure recurred, and the vehicle was returned to the dealer, where it remained. The vehicle had not been diagnosed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure; however, no update was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 18,000.
