Owner Narrative
The contact owns a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving 70 MPH, the vehicle unexpectedly decelerated to 30 MPH and the vehicle loss motive power. A dealer was contacted. An undisclosed warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer to be diagnosed, and it was determined that the engine needed to be replaced, and that the engine was consuming an excessive amount of engine oil. The contact was informed that the warranty would not cover the repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure had occurred on several occasions. The contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V274000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not under recall. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 109,082.
