SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC

Owner Narrative

The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V896000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the traction control warning light was illuminated, and the message "Electronic Braking Issue" was persistently displayed with a persistent audible dinging sound. Additionally, the cruise control mode was inoperable, and the traction control system was inoperable while driving in the rain. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the HCU had failed and needed to be replaced; however, the recall repair was not yet available. Another dealer was contacted and confirmed that the recall repair was not yet available. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 63,000.
