SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC
Owner Narrative
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Edge. The contact initially received a recall notice for NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V544000(Service Brakes, Hydraulics); however, the part for the repair was not available. The contact inspected his vehicle and discovered that the rear driver-side brake line hose had been leaking brake fluid. As the failure persisted, the "Brake Fluid Level Low Service Now" would appear on the instrument panel as the contact would have to replenish the brake fluid. The local dealer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and was given the same information as the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.
