Owner Narrative
The contact owns a 2015 Ram 1500. While driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated. Additionally, the âService Electronic Throttle Controlâ message was displayed, and the vehicle went into LIMP Mode. While attempting to start the vehicle, the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The contact stated that the failure had occurred while traveling out of state and was five hours away from home. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with a cracked tone wheel. The contact was informed that the tone wheel needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. Additionally, the contact referenced an unknown recall with a similar failure; however, the VIN was not associated with a recall. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 138,000.
