Owner Narrative

The contact owns a 2021 Ford F-350. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V957000 (Fuel System, Diesel); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed with the cruise control activated, the contact heard an abnormally loud popping and clicking sound. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The message "Decreased Engine Power" was displayed, and the vehicle experienced a loss of drive power. The contact coasted off the road and came to a complete stop. The message "Shift to Neutral" was displayed. The contact turned off the vehicle and let it cool down for five minutes. The vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who determined that the high-pressure fuel pump had failed. The dealer was made aware of the failure but confirmed that parts were not yet available. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 132,900.
