Owner Narrative
The contact owns a 2019 Ford Transit. While the contact's wife was driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to stop as intended. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that the failure had occurred while the contact's wife was parking the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle rolled into the curve and stopped. The contact stated that his wife was lucky that the vehicle had not struck the building. In addition, the contact stated that one time the failure occurred while the contact's wife was driving, and the brakes independently activated. In addition, the contact stated that the failure once occurred while the contact's wife was driving on a busy highway. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a failed HECU. The contact was informed that the HECU needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact referenced a recall; however, the VIN was not associated. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000. The VIN was invalid.
