Complaint Summary
BACK OVER PREVENTION: REARVIEW SYSTEM BRAKING
Owner Narrative
When I purchased my 2014 Ford Edge SEL from North Central Ford, I informed the dealership that the backup camera consistently displayed the error message: âCamera is unavailable, please contact your dealership.â This occurred every time the vehicle was placed in reverse. Additionally, the SYNC display would become unresponsive, disabling access to the phone, climate control, radio, and other settings. The dealership refused to fix the issue and instead offered to replace the entire SYNC system with an upgrade costing around $800. This issue has persisted since purchase in January 2018. The Ford Edge has significant blind spots, and the backup camera is essential for safe reversing. I recently discovered that Ford issued a recall for similar issues, but my model is not includedâeven though it clearly suffers from the same defect. I request that the 2014 Ford Edge SEL be included in the recall to address this safety-critical issue.
