Complaint Summary
STEERING
Owner Narrative
â¢Malfunctions: â¢Brakes: Failed multiple times, including during a critical incident on 11/9/2024, where I couldnât stop the car, risking a severe collision. â¢Steering: The steering system failed during the same event, making the car uncontrollable. â¢Acceleration: The vehicle unexpectedly accelerated on multiple occasions, including on 4/16/2024, creating dangerous driving conditions. â¢These components are available for inspection. â¢Safety Risks: â¢My safety was at extreme risk when the car unexpectedly accelerated, and I couldnât stop it, narrowly avoiding a collision with gas tanks, which could have been catastrophic. â¢Inspection and Diagnosis: â¢The dealership inspected the car on 4/16/2024 and 10/11/2024, but no faults were found, despite my concerns. They only drove the car briefly and did not adequately investigate the braking or steering issues. â¢No diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) were found, contradicting the malfunctions I experienced. â¢Inspection by Others: â¢The car was assessed by my insurance company, who initially missed wheel damages, later correcting the report after I pointed it out. â¢I also reached out to Genesis customer care but received no comprehensive response regarding the ongoing safety issues. â¢Symptoms Prior to Failure: â¢On 11/9/2024, the check engine light illuminated, but by the time I could schedule an appointment, it disappeared. Previous brake and steering issues were noted but not adequately investigated.
