Owner Narrative

The contact owns a 2012 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle did not stop as intended. The contact stated that the brake pedal had to be depressed hard to stop the vehicle. In addition, the contact stated that the brake pedal made a squealing sound while depressed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with brake booster failure. The contact was informed that the brake booster needed to be replaced. The vehicle was being repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The contact was informed about Customer Satisfaction Program: 13N02; however, the contact was informed that the VIN was not included. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 124,500.
