Owner Narrative
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-250. The contact stated while driving approximately 65 MPH, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted to 1st gear. The contact stated that the RPM gauge climbed into the "RED" zone and the vehicle almost stalled. The contact stated that the shift indicator on the instrument cluster was flashing and then showed that the vehicle was in 1st gear. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V444000 (Power Train). The failure mileage was approximately 188,000.
