Owner Narrative
The contact owns a 2022 GMC Canyon. The contact stated that while attempting to start the vehicle, the contact became aware of a failure by removing the key from the ignition. The contact stated that in 15 to 20 minutes he was able to remove the key. The contact had to restart the vehicle several times and switch gears until the key was removed. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the diagnostic result was undisclosed. The contact was informed that the ignition switch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHSTA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 36,746.
