Owner Narrative

The contact called on behalf of the owner of a 2010 Ford Focus. The contact stated that while the owner was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle was leaking fuel. The vehicle was taken to the independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed with a fractured fuel tank. The mechanic determined that the fuel tank needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the recall repair of NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V793000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) was performed on the vehicle in July 2017; however, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was not repaired. There was no further information provided. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to report the failure to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 194,000.
