Owner Narrative

The contact owns a 2015 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated while driving 15 MPH and making a turn, the vehicle lost power steering functionality. A message indicating power steering failure was displayed. The contact stated that the steering wheel was extremely difficult to turn however, the contact was able to pull to the side of the road using physical strength to turn the steering wheel. The vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer where it was diagnosed, and the failure was linked to NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V719000 (Steering). The vehicle was taken to a GMC dealer, who informed the contact that the recall had already been completed on the vehicle. The dealer determined that the power steering control module needed to be replaced; however, the part was not available. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000.
