Complaint Summary
AIR BAGS
Owner Narrative
TAKATA RECALL I RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE, AND CONTACTED BURIEN TOYOTA TO HAVE THE FIX PERFORMED. I WAS TOLD THAT THE AIRBAG WAS "ON BACK-ORDER" AND THAT I SHOULD CALL BACK IN 5-6 WEEKS. I DO NOT BELIEVE THIS FIX IS BEING PERFORMED IN A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME. THE RECALL NOTICE CALLS THIS AN "IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL" AND SAYS THAT I SHOULD NOT HAVE PASSENGERS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT OF MY CAR. IF THE RECALLED PART FAILS, IT CAN "RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH." WHY IS TOYOTA TAKING 5-6 WEEKS AFTER SENDING US THE NOTICE TO FIX THIS PROBLEM? AM I SUPPOSED TO QUIT DRIVING MY CAR FOR THE NEXT TWO MONTHS WHILE THEY ORDER A PART THAT THEY HAVE KNOWN FOR MONTHS TO BE DEFECTIVE? THIS IS IRRESPONSIBLE.
