Owner Narrative
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 VOLVO XC90. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, FUEL FUMES EMITTED INTO THE VEHICLE. AFTER INSPECTING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT FUEL WAS ALL OVER THE EXHAUST PIPE AND THE BOTTOM OF THE FUEL TANK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP WAS CRACK AND LEAKING FUEL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN NUMBER WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN: 09V483000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 111,000.
