Complaint Summary
STEERING
Owner Narrative
TRUCK WITH A FULL-SIZE CAMPER WAS PARKED FOR LESS THAN 5 MIN. BEFORE IT BLEW UP AND BURNED UP. NORTH AMERICAN TECHNICAL & FORENSIC SERVICES EXAMINED THE TRUCK AND DETERMINED THAT THE CAUSE WAS A POWERSTEERING FLUID LEAK IN THE LEFT FRONT ENGINE COMPARTMENT AT THE POWERSTEERING FLUID LINE OR LINE CONNECTIONS. AFTER THE FIRE, I CONTACTED GM REGARDING THE INCIDENT AND ASKED IF THEY HAD ANY RECORD OF THIS TYPE OF FIRE AND THEY SAID NO. HOWEVER, IN CHECKING THE RECALLS, THERE WAS A RECALL FOR POWERSTEERING LEAKAGE. GM THEN FILED BANKRUPTCY. *TR
