Owner Narrative

The contact owns a 2010 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while reversing at approximately 3 MPH, the brake pedal was depressed to slow the vehicle before entering the roadway, and the brake pedal had an abnormal amount of resistance. The contact stated that he used added pressure to depress the brake pedal and heard an abnormal hissing sound. The contact stated that while the vehicle was in drive(D) the failure recurred while depressing the brake pedal. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The failure was intermittent at first but became a constant failure. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed and determined that the brake booster needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The mechanic informed the contact that there was a recall by the manufacturer for the brake booster. The contact called a dealer and was informed that there was no open recall associated with VIN related to the brake booster. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 105,000.
