Owner Narrative
The contact owns a 2006 GMC Envoy. The contact stated that while driving various speeds, there was an abnormal burning odor coming from the front driverâs side door circuit board. There was no warning light illuminated. There was a white and grayish smoke coming from the door panel. After removing the door panel, the contact discovered that the source of the smoke was coming from the wiring inside the door. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, and the contact was informed of NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V599000 (Visibility); which the mechanic related to the failure. The vehicle was then taken to a dealer, and the contact was informed that the driverâs side door switch module needed to be replaced; however, the contact declined the dealer's estimate for a comprehensive wiring inspection. The vehicle remained unrepaired with the dealer. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
