Owner Narrative
The contact owns a 2017 Ram 3500. The contact stated that while driving 50-70 MPH, the message "Check Brake System" was displayed and the traction control warning light illuminated, causing the cruise control mode to disengage, and the vehicle was almost rear-ended. The contact stated that the failure also occurred while driving at 75 MPH. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V896000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 33,000.
